The watch

My mum told me that my nanna wanted to give me a combined Christmas and 21st Birthday gift because I will be in London for my 21st birthday in May, and mum didn't know what I wanted. I said no tacky 21st keys or anything like that, I just wanted something that had some meaning or significance no matter how little it cost.

Well, my uncle bought around my present today for me to try on to check it didn't need adjusting... a beautiful watch. But I couldn't care less whether it was a watch or a tissue, the story behind it is what makes me so grateful and humbled to recieve this gift My grandfather sent it to my grandmother from the Middle East during the war as a present to her for her own 21st birthday. So not only is this watch absolutely beautiful, it has a meaningful family story behind it and I will treasure it always because it was my grandmother's, and it has such a beautiful story behind it. Plus I am so grateful to her because I think it must have been hard for her to part with such a significant thing for her. No gift bought in a shop could be as special as this gift, it seriously bought me to tears.
