Sunsets and sunrises
I've been working a lot lately and will be doing about 70 hours a week over Christmas and New Year... since I work at night I have been finishing work at about 5am or 6am or 7am, and when I finish early enough I drive up to the top of one of the hills around here and watch the sunrise and it is very beautiful. It is kind of strange though, watching the sunrise... and then going home to bed!
This town has gotten bigger since I was last home... it's not as country as it used to be when I was growing up. But there still isn't a lot to do here really... movies, pubs, not many good places to eat, etc. Unless you are in a sporting team, working 70 hours a week, or have some strange hobby like making portraits of the baby jesus out of macaroni, it can become boring here. We drive up and down the main street so often, and when you go to the shops you go more for the opportunity to run in to someone than to buy anything sometimes. I think that if you live here more permanantly like I used to you have more of a community thing and it is a good place, but it is kind of hard to half live here sometimes.
It can be really beautiful here though. Tonight we went out to the hume dam, which is nearly full for the first time in ages after such a long drought, and watched the sunset while we went for a walk. The sunset in the cloudy sky was really beautiful, and when it got dark the lights on the weir wall reflecting off the water was really quite pretty, especially considering the dam wall is not the prettiest thing! It was a nice night.
Other than that I haven't been doing much. Just bumming around, helping mum with Christmas stuff, driving up and down the main street of town and working. But it's only 2 weeks to go until I leave the country!!!!! I can't believe it, it's gone so quickly! And I will barely have time to pack considering that I am working so much. Still don't have anywhere to live in London though, but oh well.
