Girls girls girls!!!
Sometimes I miss Australia. Reading about the spat between Jane Pittman and Tamsyn Lewis makes one want to be home just to see them get the mickey taken out of them (I'm thinking shows like the Chaser and Glasshouse would be doing a good job of it). I'm just joking obviously, but it is amusing to read about. I'm sorry but it's hilarious in a way, and sad in another. I can't believe they have both stooped to such an extent that they are letting their personal differences turn in to a full on mud wrestling match... two grown women fighting like schoolgirls in the public arena! I mean, we all have disagreements, we all have personality clashes with other people, but you don't see this kind of stuff normally. I mean, everyone read how the starlets of Sex in the City didn't really get along that well, but they never stooped to this kind of behavior. It looks kinda bad for women's sport that this is happening, particularly after the women's rowing team scandal in Athens. Acting like petty bitches does nothing for feminism ladies!! And nothing for either of your public profiles. Although I do feel I am on Tamsyn's side on this one, but it's hard to tell cos they are both trying to play the victim card.
And I'm sorry, but giving your medals to the poms? Jana! How un-Australian of you!
Aren't the Commonwealth Games supposed to be the friendly games?
Also, on rather un-timely but Commonwealth Games related talk, does anyone else think that the only reason our friend Amanda Vanstone didn't chuck those runaway athletes from Sierra Leone and other third world countries in Villawood was because Aussies like sport? We now know the only way to avoid immigration detention in your quest for asylum... run fast... either away from DIMIA, or around a running track. I am pleased that they have been treated with respect while they file their applications for asylum, I just wish that was the case for everyone, not just sports stars. But you can tell we live in the age of PR- imagine the international backlash if our Amanda had shipped them off to Baxter.
In other news, I am loving New Zealand reggae by Fat Freddy's Drop... loving the songs Wandering Eye and Hope. Good stuff.
