Cold, jetlagged... but hey I'm here!
So I'm finally in London... and it's bloody cold! Plus I am still suffering from jet lag. I haven't seen much so far, because I have been really tired and trying to get over this jet lag related sick feeling that I have, but I am happy to be here at last and hopefully will be feeling better soon.
Everything I have been told about London so far has been confirmed to be true... it's cold, very very expensive and it's stupid to catch the tube from Heathrow during peak hour with luggage. Very stupid... but there was nop way I was forking out fifteen pounds for the Heathrow express.
This internet cafe is quite bizarre... it's in Paddington, near the backpackers that I am staying at, and it's got all this strange rice paper mood lighting as well as bizarre mood music playing. The spiral staircase down it it was harrowing to navigate...
I went out to the university campus today to get the housing lists. It's out in Harrow, which is far north west London, and it was even colder out there. It's only 20 minutes on the tube though from the central area so it's not that bad a commute. Plus the area around the campus is quite nice, sorta quaint, reminds me of that typical village life atmosphere with little terraces and cottages. The campus was pretty nice, fairly new and quite big, especially considering it's only the campus for the media and design schools.
I did something really stupid though... I packed so so soooo much shit, and I forgot my journalism portfolio. Shit. Hopefully I won't have any problems enroling in subjects or anything without it... I can't believe I was so stupid, but it was all quite stressy getting ready especially since I worked every single day until I left!
Anyway, might go and get something extremely overpriced to eat now. I need to find somewhere proper to live, living in the tourist areas in backpackers is really expensive because there are no proper supermarkets around or anything.
