Random thoughts on London
Today I had to go in to the city to pick up the key for the apartment my mum and sis will be staying in when they arrive in sunny (ha) London tomorrow. The weather has actually been ok this weekend, but I saw the weather forecast and it is for rain, rain, rain for the next few days. At least ma and sis will get a realistic taste of London life... dealing with crap weather.
Because I'm such a lovely daughter I went to M&S and bought them fruit and food and stuff... but trust my mother to pick a place to stay where the only convenient place to shop is M&S. Sooooooo expensive! Killer! Plus I have to organize their tube passes for them tomorrow. I'm hoping they shall reimburse me, I love them, but I am poor!
I really have grown to have quite a fondness for London, even when one is crammed in to the tube. Being so close to the people in the carriage that you can smell on their breath what they had for lunch... that's London for ya. At first I couldn't figure out why so many Australians call London home... now I think I can... there is something about it, it has a certain vibrancy and excitement that draws you in. Despite the weather and the expense.
In other news, I haven't been up to much lately. Trying to do an essay for media events, it's coming along, but I don't think I will get it quite finished before mum and sis come, but that's ok I can work on it in the evenings.
On Sunday, I had a lovely dinner at Ross's place, a fellow radio friend, and we talked about life, love and watched Little Britain. We ate pasta, drank wine and had a good laugh. It was a really nice evening, particularly appreciated due to my boredom lately and lack of social contact because everyone is off holidaying.
But I'm sure after two weeks of dealing with my mother, I'll probably be ready for the quiet life once more...
