Random blog entry #397
Hmm, this post doesn't have a topic. I still don't have internet at home (don't ask) so yeah I'm at the library again and it's awfully quiet.
Sorry for all the typos that have been making their way in to my blog posts as of late. It's because the keyboards on the library computers are quite dodgy, particularly when I am forced to use a Mac. The Macs have a habit of double typing letters when I use them. Also, some of the keys are in different places on these European keyboards.
We have been recording our radio drama soap with real actors in the studio which is quite cool. I can't believe semester finishes next week! It's gone unbelievably fast, I haven't made any definate plans for my big Euro trip and yeah, soon my mum and sister will be here which should be delightfully stressful. Neither of them have ever been O/S before... I just hope all the protests stop in Paris before we get there. Even though I do agree with the protestors.
I have a couple of essays to write, and the post production for radio drama as well as a critical report to do. Most of that isn't due until May but I want to get it done ASAP so I can spend my free time before Mum and sis arrive travelling in the UK. So unmotivated though, especially to write the essays. The marking system here is totally different as well... so no matter what I do it will look like I slacked off when people look at my transcript from here. Here, 60's are good marks. Low 70's are really good marks. Pass is 40... so it doesn't look very good to Australians to get marks in the 60's and stuff cos that's only credit at home but here it's probably equivalent to distinction.
I've been having a pretty boring week this week, except last night I borrowed Monsoon Wedding from the library and watched it. I really like that film, it's such an interesting look at love and relationships and family. It is really charming. Except sometimes it made the bitter single that lurks within me rear it's ugly head. There was a gig on at the university bar last night, the world's biggest drum and bass act apparently called Pendulum, but it was sold out so I couldn't go.
In other news, this article from the Chaser is quite amusing.
Has anyone been reading that Sam and the City blog on SMH? Does anyone else find it not that interesting or amusing? I just don't ever find it that witty, and the questions it raises are nothing unique. It kind of feels like something one would read in Cosmo or something equally low brow. I dunno, there's just something about it that I don't really like that much. Maybe that's just me being bitchy or whatever, but yeah.
OK. I really have nothing interesting to say. I'm just quite bored. And the library is now silent except for the thudding of my fingers on the keyboard and the humming of computers thinking about life.
