Neo-cons, liberty, civil libertarians and singing in the rain

I'm currently working on an assignment for political theory and the whole thing is incredibly convoluted. Basically it involves writing responses to some newspaper articles, talking about how political theory informs or structures the situations etc. Because I have been so busy as of late I haven't done many of the readings for this subject and it is all so horribly convoluted. Neo-conservatives, conservatives, liberals, liberty, positive and negetive liberty, socialism, communism, Marxism... so many theories, so little time!

I only have to write one more crappy 500 word rambling response to an article I have chosen about increasing nationalism in Peru and then I am done. I am in at uni at the moment, to try and escape from the distractions in my room at home. It's very very quiet in the newsroom here... it reminds me of when I used to go to Harrow campus library at Westminster very late at night to use the internet when halls net wouldn't work. It also reminds me of a time when my internet in Sydney wasn't working and it was a balmy summer evening and I was wondering around the UTS Tower block with no shoes on, eating an icecream while typing up an essay that was due the next day.

I wish it was balmy now... the weather has been cold (for Sydney... top of 16 degrees today, well cold for us!) and really rainy. I can't complain about the rain because of the drought, we need the rain badly, but it does make for a fairly dull and dreary weekend. Oh well, holidays at the end of this week for a fortnight! Yay! I do have a fair bit of uni work to do in them though, but I'm not working and I should have some time to chill, check out some cafes in my new neighbourhood and catch up on things I have been meaning to do for ages, like ebaying some clothes and stuff that I don't wear anymore...
