I like my job

I like my new job. I can't wait until uni is finished so the whole time management deal is less stressful. Today I basically quit my community radio role and I feel terrible about it... the self imposed guilt trip about it is likely to last for months and months. I did what I could really, but I hate letting people down so much.

Anyway, back to my job. Last night I had to go to a Town meeting about a big development proposal. Normally, a building wharf thingo being built wouldn't interest me. But what I like about my job is that I have to be interested in what other people are interested in... it's their interest that makes it interesting if that makes any sense. And hence I get to hear about things that I would normally ignore. Plus it's a real grassroots type of journalism... I get to go to these things, talk to people, walk around, hear what they have to say. It's nice... no working off press releases and phone calls only. Plus I get to take pictures, which is taking some getting used to, but practice makes perfect. I met a couple of local councellors and people running in the state election as well last night, making contacts and all that jazz.

The meeting went until quite late which is why I am still at home. I will be rocking in to work soon...

At the moment, I pretty much like my job. Which is always nice.

In other news, Smoke Radio was nominated in three categories at the Student Radio Awards in Britain, including best station. That is awesome! Congrats Smoke Radio kids, you all deserve it for your hard work!! It's especially special considering the station is so young, only about a year old really. Fantastic job kiddos!

Oh, and I found more hilarious Idol blogging over at The Spin Starts Here. It's pretty harsh stuff but made me chortle a bit.
